The Falls Township Board of Supervisors approved an amended final land development plan for a marijuana growing and processing facility last week.

The approval for MLH Exploration calls for a 225-square-foot addition to connect two existing buildings at the 32-acre 150 Solar Drive property in the Keystone Industrial Port Complex.

The addition to connect the two buildings will allow a previously approved medical marijuana growing and processing facility to move forward.

With the development plans approved, MLH Exploration can move forward with completing their application to apply for a state research license.

“We do feel fairly confident that we will be granted this research license,” MLH Exploration attorney Carrie Nase-Poust said.

The goal for MLH Exploration, according to Nase-Poust, is to obtain the research license and partner with Jefferson University Health System. The research would focus on conditions that medical marijuana treats. Since many doctors recommend for the use of medical marijuana, it is important to get good quality ones from the market. The doctors have immense experience in the field of treating ailments using medical marijuana.

MLH Exploration’s plans will involve the growth, processing, and study of medical marijuana. The facility will not be open to retail customers and will follow Falls Township’s local marijuana grower ordinance.

The company has said in the past it plans to add about 50 jobs.

David Clapper of MLH Exploration told the Supervisors the facility would have regular loads of fertilizer, soil, and growing materials.

The company said they plan to return before the Supervisors down the road and expand their facility further. The next expected addition is a 42,000-square-foot greenhouse.

Nase-Poust said former MLH Exploration partner PharmaCann Penn Plant is no longer involved in the Falls Township facility. Last summer, the state did not approve PharmaCann Penn Plant’s license.
