Maple Point Middle School will reopen Wednesday after a Monday evening transformer fire.
The Neshaminy School District announced the middle school will open for classes after a mobile generator was installed at the Middletown building that houses the school and district administration.

The administration portion of the building was open Tuesday and had power, but the school was not open after the transformer failure that caused a power outage. Students and teachers were told to take Tuesday off.
Chris Stanley, the district’s spokesperson, said a transformer on the school property failed and caught fire. It did not cause any damage to the building.
Fire crews responded to the scene around 9 p.m. Monday night for the incident.

“Thanks to our Facilities crew for their hard work during this event. And a big thanks to our Maple Point families and staff for their patience and understanding,” the district said in a statement.
