Bristol Township Council has bestowed an honor to one of the community’s longest serving officials.
Council last month dedicated the Municipal Building along Bath Road to John “Jack” Monahan, who currently serves on the governing body.

Monahan began served as township secretary in 1964, later as council president and vice president, as the township appointee on the Lower Bucks County Joint Municipal Authority, as a legislative aide to the late State Rep. Tony Melio, as the sergeant at arms to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and as Bristol Township’s last mayor from 2010 to 2011. In 2011, the township moved from a system of having to mayor to no longer having one.
“It was a pleasure to honor Jack by naming the municipal building after him”, said Council President Craig Bowen.
Local state legislators awarded the long-serving official with resolutions honoring Monahan.

State Rep. Tina Davis said she worked with Monahan when she was first elected to Council.
“No matter who called him or what they wanted. He would go to their home, look at the street, look at a pothole. He would do whatever he had to to make sure their problem was listened to,” Davis said.
“You truly are the example of an outstanding citizen,” State Sen. Tommy Tomlinson said.
