The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors have awarded two streambank restoration projects to James D. Morrissey Inc.

Two streambanks – one at 200 South Clearview Avenue and another at the intersection of Longview and Fir avenues – have begun eroding and causing issues. The township as awarded a base and an alternate bid totaling $82,975 to Morrissey in an effort to stabilize both streambank locations.

The streambank at Clearview Avenue is beginning to erode and collapse, taking an adjacent propertyย owner’s driveway with it. The streambank at the intersection of Longview and Fir consists of twin pipes that run under the roadway and need to be repaired before the street suffers any more significant damage.

While township officials noted last week that there are other streambanks throughout the municipality in need of repair, these two were the only ones granted maintenance permits by the DEP.

The township hopes to continue the repair of others in future budgets.
