Gift Retailer Could File For Bankruptcy Protection

A retailer with a location in the Oxford Valley Mall has hit hard times.

Things Remembered, which operates inside the Middletown mall, is preparing to file for bankruptcy protection and close the majority of stores as its financial troubles mount, according to Reuters.

The Ohio-based company that engraves gifts for consumers operates around 450 stores in the United States and Canada.

Things Remember filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) in Ohio recently, PennLive.com reported.

“For several months, Things Remembered has been attempting to sell or restructure its business, but at this time the company does not know to what extent these efforts will succeed. Although, the company does not concede that WARN notice is actually required at this time, notice is being sent nevertheless because of this uncertainty, and so that the company may remain compliant with all employment laws,” the notice stated.
