UPDATE: Cops: Man Shot In Chest By Lifelong Friend Dies

A man in his 20s was in surgery late Wednesday afternoon after he was shot inside a Levittown home.

Bristol Township police Lt. Ralph Johnson said the shooting happened around 2:15 p.m. after the man and his friend entered the residence in the 80 block of Indigo Road after running an errand. Preliminary information indicates that the friend was clearing his gun when it went off and a bullet struck his friend in the chest.

The injured man was rushed to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown by ambulance, Johnson said.

The man who shot his friend was transported to the Bristol Township police station to speak with investigators.

Officers were spotted inside the Indigo Road home as TV news helicopters hovered overhead.
