A former area priest has been placed on administrative leave after allegations of sexual abuse of children, while another has been found unsuitable for ministry.
In a news release, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced former Immaculate Conception BVM Catholic Church Rev. Msgr. Joseph Logrip, 73, has been placed on “administrative leave and his priestly faculties were restricted earlier this week.”

“While on administrative leave he will not be able to exercise his ministry public, present himself publicly as a priest, or be present in any parishes or schools,” the church said.
The church received a new allegation that Logrip sexually abused a minor. The allegation was recently brought to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and has been reported to law enforcement. Exact details on the allegation has not been released.
Logrip has been working in Chester County. He worked at St. Ignatius of Antioch in Lower Makefield from 1972 to 1974 and the now-closed Immaculate Conception BVM Catholic Church in Bristol Township from 2000 to 2007.

Logrip has previously been investigated by the church in 2011 and found suitable to return to service in 2014 after the allegations of sexual abuse of a child were unfounded at that time, according to the Catholic Philly news organization.
Rev. John F. Meyers, 64, who previously served at St. Mark Catholic Church in Bristol Borough in 2003, was found to be “unsuitable for ministry based on a substantiated allegation of sexual abuse of a minor.” His case will be forwarded to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith at the Vatican.

Meyers was put on administrative leave and his role restricted after the Archdiocese of Philadelphia learned last year of an allegation that he had “sexually abused a minor in the early 1980s.”
The archdiocese said in their statement that they referred the allegations to police and no criminal charges were filed.
Meyers most recently worked at a retreat home in Chester County.

The church said in their statement that victim services are offered by calling 1-888-800-8780 or philavac@archphila.org. They also advised anyone with claims of sexual abuse or any other criminal activity by church officials to contact police and in-house investigators at 1-888-930-9010.
