Multinational retailer Urban Outfitters plans to open a 310,000-square-foot processing and distribution center in Bristol Township.

The Philadelphia Business Journal reported Thursday that the lease has been signed for the property.

The processing and distribution center will be constructed in front of the standing Airgas facility on Green Lane across from the Bloomsdale-Fleetwing neighborhood. Urban Outfitters will take up about 20 acres of the Bristol Commerce Center, which sits on the old 3M site.

Bristol Township Council approved construction of the large facility last month.

Officials representing the developer of the facility have said as many as 300 jobs could be created by the new facility that will be operated by the Philadelphia-based retailer that has 245 locations in the United States and around the globe.

Work at the site is underway and the facility is expected to be completed by April, officials said.

The new processing and distribution center plans were created with input from Urban Outfitter designers. The brand is known for its unique – and sometimes controversial – clothing and lifestyle products and chic-looking stores.

Originally, the site was expected to be broken up with several tenants, but that all changed when Urban Outfitters stepped up to take the facility.
