Three groups that are opposed to the construction of Elcon Recycling Services’s proposed hazardous waste treatment facility will hold a public meeting Wednesday.
Protect Our Water and Air, Delaware Riverkeeper Network, Clean Air Council, according to an event posting, will hold an informational meeting on the projects and their objections to it Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at the Levittown Library off New Falls Road in Bristol Township.

Although the proposal is undergoing a technical review by Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, activist will host the meeting to make their stance known. It follows a meeting last month in Burlington County in New Jersey.
In filings and public statements, Elcon has said they aim to open their hazardous waste water recycling facility on a 22-acre portion of a 33-acre property in the Keystone Industrial Port Complex. According to past filings with the DEP, Elcon expects to employ about 55 people at the automated facility that can handle about 410 metric tons of waste a day. The facility has been expected to process 150,000 to 210,000 tons of chemical and pharmaceutical waste that would be transported to the facility every year.
Activists have opposed the facility over safety concerns while Elcon officials have stressed that their plan is safe.
