Bucks County law enforcement will be holding their fall over-the-counter drug take-back day this Saturday across the area.
The drive to collect unused, unneeded or expired prescription medications is part of the The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day and supported by local police, community groups, and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The event gives residents a chance to safely get rid of medications that otherwise may end up being used illegally or in the public water system.
“Used as medicine, prescription medications vastly improve lives. But when they fall into the wrong hands, these powerful drugs cause only destruction,” said District Attorney Matt Weintraub. “Bucks County has led the commonwealth’s voluntary take back efforts, and will no doubt continue that tradition this weekend on National Drug Take Back Day.”
Authorities said the drugs collected are taken to an out-of-county facility and incinerated.

The last county-wide collection event netted 3,149 pounds of unwanted or unused prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
Residents can go to any one of the locations in the county – no questions asked – and drop off their medications to local police department sites where an officer and volunteers will be available.
