Bristol Twp. Schools Get Funds For Violence Prevention Program

The Bristol Township School District’s elementary, middle, and high schools will implement violence prevention programs through the Sandy Hook Promise organization.

The Pennsylvaniaย Department of Education has been working with Sandy Hook Promise to implement theย Start With Helloย andย Say Something programs. The two programs empower students about create “socially inclusive school communities” and to “recognize the signs and appropriately intervene when they identify someone as exhibiting behaviors that they may be a threat to themselves or others.”

All six of the Bristol Township School District’s schools will take part in the program.

More than 70 schools across the state will benefit from $1 million awarded to start the program at a number of districts. The funds come from the U.S. Department of Justice’sย Office of Justice Programs.

The state has been working to improve safety programs at schools in Pennsylvania. Theย Pennsylvania School Safety Task Force released a number of suggestions in summer.
