The man who was shot Saturday evening was hit by at least two rounds fired by police and may have been suffering a self-inflicted wound, according to a non-law enforcement source with knowledge of the situation.

Law enforcement confirmed officers did fire at the man after he refused to listen to their orders and drop a firearm while outside of a home on Grand Pine Road in Bristol Township’s Levittown section.

The injured man was rushed by medics to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown, authorities said. The non-law enforcement source said the man was expected survive.
Police were called to the home for an unknown incident and surrounded the Levitt-built dwelling. They discovered the man had a firearm and ordered him to drop it before they opened fire, authorities said.

Aside from the hospitalized man, no one else was reported injured.
Firefighters were called to the home during the incident, but it was not immediately clear if there was a fire.

Sources said the shooting happened around 8 p.m. as police were engaged in a barricade situation in the neighborhood. It was unclear who shot the man and his involvement, if any, in the standoff.
Firefighters were called to the home where the barricade situation was happening around 7:40 p.m. for a report of a house fire. A SWAT team was also activated to respond.
