Starting at $8 per month or $75 for the entire year (less than 20 cents per day), the In The Know Club helps keep you and your neighbors informed while helping us keep our lights on and our servers running.

Across the country and locally here in Bucks County, local news is in crisis with big hedge funds and the richest of the rich often running the show. They look for the largest returns while gutting local news coverage and taking local dollars out of town.

Since we launched in March 2013, we’ve been locally owned and have a real stake in this community, our home.

Seven days a week and 365 days a year, our small but dedicated team works to serve up coverage on a number of vital topics ranging from first responder news to local government to stories about area residents making a difference. Through this, we believe we’ve made an undeniable impact on the civic and cultural life of Lower Bucks County.

Some highlights:

• More than 14,475 articles, 25,000 photos and 250 videos – all of them local – have been published since we launched in March 2013.
• We are active members of the local business community.
• Our readers have helped police capture more than 35 wanted persons.
• Twelve missing persons – including an endangered young boy who wandered miles from home – have been located by our readers.
• Tens of thousands of dollars in advertising has been donated to nonprofits.
• Our readers and business partners have helped raise more than $100,000 for local nonprofits and other good causes. Just last winter, our readers helped raise $30,000 to help more than 1,000 kids through the United Way of Bucks County’s Holiday Gift Card Drive.

Our mission is simple: report on everything (local) that you need to know while supporting the local nonprofit and business community.

Starting in summer, longtime LevittownNow.com reporter Amanda Burg has been tapped to handle the day-to-day operations of the In The Know Club in a more permanent capacity. Her main objective will be to grow the membership, provide more reasons to sign up, and better manager member relations.

Since we launched the In The Know Club last year, we’ve grown and maintained a membership of about 50 readers. More than 95 percent have renewed their In The Know Club membership. This is all with very little promotion.

That all changes this summer. We will begin promoting our In The Know Club and its benefits more regularly starting this week.

Amanda is tasked with launching our first member drive. We will be working to add 250 new members by Labor Day. It’s a lofty goal that we know is going to be hard, but we have faith that our community will step up.

A membership helps us keep operating and will fund an expansion of our reporter ranks. We have a lot more stories – including more in-depth investigations – that we want to tell but we need your help.
