A man with a track record of possessing drugs was sentenced Friday for a Falls Township incident where police found heroin and cocaine.

Dayshawn Camp, 28, of Trenton, was sentenced to two to four years in state prison after Bucks County Judge Wallace Bateman rejected a plea deal that would have kept him in the county correctional facility to continue drug treatment programs.ย In addition to the prison time, Bateman imposed a sentenceย  of fourย consecutive years of probation, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.

โ€œYouโ€™re destroying peopleโ€™s lives when you sell it. Youโ€™re destroying your own life when you use it,โ€ Bateman told Camp.

โ€œItโ€™s got to stop. And doing a couple of classes and going to a rehab isnโ€™t going to stop it. I donโ€™t know what to do with you but put you in prison.โ€

Police arrested Camp and another man in late August 2017 at the Ace Motel on Lincoln Highway after officers responded with a probation arrest warrant for a woman. At the motel, a room connected to Camp and another man was found to contain 9.31 grams of cocaine and 237 bags of heroin, which amounted to 5.96 grams, Deputy District Attorney David Keightly Jr. said.

Camp pleaded guilty earlier this year to possession with intent to sell or deliver drugs. His sentencing was delayed so he could undergo drug treatment in prison.

โ€œMy mind was always closed. Iโ€™m from Trenton, New Jersey, and Iโ€™ve been exposed to these things since I was little,โ€ Camp told the judge. โ€œI need help. Iโ€™ve been coming to jail since I was 13, being around drugs.โ€

Camp admitted to becoming addicted to drugs, and his attorney, Keith Williams, said he had never before treatment.

In 2012, Trenton cops caught Camp with 45 bags of heroin near a school. Two years later, he was sentenced to prison in New Jersey after repeatedly selling heroin to undercover officers. He also had been caught possessing cocaine and heroin.

Camp is awaiting trial in Mercer County, New Jersey, in a case related to dealing drugs in summer 2017.
