The pedestrian bridge that connects the Plumbridge and Mill Creek Falls neighborhoods of Levittown will be replaced after being closed for several years.

In February, Bristol Township Council approved hiring ABC Construction of Bensalem to replace the pedestrian bridge for $217,014.78.

Township Engineer Kurt Schroeder said last week that some early stages of the project are beginning. The township’s public works crews will do some of the abutment work to cut down on the cost.

Over the next few months, the new pedestrian bridge will be fabricated before being installed, Schroeder said.

The bridge has been on the township’s radar for several years. Higher-than-expected bids delayed replacement of the pedestrian span that crosses the Mill Creek last year.
