PennDOT spokesperson Bob Kent said the potholes on Route 1 north between Bensalem and Langhorne Manor were caused by recent wet weather and the fact the road surface has been milled.
The contractor started work late last month and has not been able to do much work this week due to the rainy weather.
The milled road surfaced coupled with the weather and an older pavement can easily lead to potholes in work zones.

Kent said Bucks County repair crews were quickly dispatched Thursday and began filling the worst potholes.
The lead contractor on the Route 1 repaving project – H&K Group of Skippack, Montgomery County – has been tasked with continuing to make repairs until they can resume overnight repaving work.
