Middletown resident Catie Turner returned home on Tuesday after finishing in the top 7 on the latest season of ABC’s “American Idol.”
After the hectic schedule for the hit network show, a return home to Middletown signifies a return to a slowed down tempo.

“Coming back to Langhorne was wonderful for Catie because it was a return home,” said Catie’s mom, Catherine Turner. She spoke as she drove her daughter to the airport for a few more days in Los Angeles.
“Going from 100 mph and room service to a slowed down pace was quite a change,” Catherine Turner joked.
“I’m doing very well,” Catie Turner said.

Catie Turner spent late saturday morning and early afternoon meeting with fans and supporters at Langhorne Borough’s Pet Fair. From the moment Turner stepped onto the grounds, she was mobbed by adoring fans, clamoring to meet her and get a photo with her. The 18-year-old Neshaminy High School senior spent over an hour taking photos with and meeting fans before leading the pet parade as the grand marshall.
“The first thing she said to me after it was over was how much fun she had,” Catherine said.
By the time Catie Turner returned home on Tuesday, signs urging locals to vote for her on the show were still up in Lower Bucks County. Seeing those signs and seeing the outpouring of support was cool, Catie Turner said.

The next steps for Catieย Turner are pretty clear. While there are a few more things to wrap up for American Idol, Catieย Turner will begin preparing for the show’s summer concert tour. Over the summer, the top seven contestants will travel to 43 venues for a concert series. The closest show to Middletown is at the Tower Theater on August 14.
Catieย Turner is excited for that next step. Going on tour with contestants and friends, her mom said, is going to be like going to summer camp with some of her closest friends.

One thing Catherine does not want is for supporters and fans to feel bad for Catie’s departure from the show.
“There are good things in the works,” Catherineย Turner said.
“I just want to thank all of the fans and the community for their support,” Catie Turner said.
