Falls Township has announced the advertisement for an ordinance amendment which further clarifies how consumer fireworks can be used within the township.

The proposed amendment comes after recent legislation which allowed for consumer fireworks to be set off within the state. According to the township solicitor, the proposed amendment was drafted in part by the fire marshal to give a better resource for township police officers.

The amendment proposes that consumer fireworks are still prohibited from being set off on township property (including Falls Township Community Park) and within 150 feet of a structure that is capable of being occupied, regardless of if it is occupied when the consumer fireworks are set off.

The township solicitor noted that those amendments would cover a large portion of the township.

Supervisors will vote to either approve or deny the ordinance amendment after hearing public comment at a future township meeting.
