Marks was called to Woods Services for a reported assault on November 16, 2015. He found a nonverbal patient with red marks consistent with being struck with a blunt object. With the patient not being able to communicate and having trouble getting information, Marks launched a lengthy investigation that led to a grand jury inquiry, Chief of Police Joseph Bartorilla said.
A caretaker was charged and found guilty. He is no longer able to work with vulnerable people, the chief said.
The judge in the case mentioned Mark’s efforts, Bartorilla said.
