Obert-Thorn was recently revealed and honored as the 2017 All-Pro Teacher of the Year. The announcement was made at an awards banquet held at Lincoln Financial Field and celebrated Friday before students and staff at the middle school.
For being in the top 10, each teacher received $2,000 to go towards their school’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs. Obert-Thorn brought back an extra $5,000 for the program when she was named the overall winner.
The program recognizes outstanding sixth through 12th grade teacher and is put on byย Axalta, a Philadelphia-based coatings company.

The seventh grade teacher went on to explain how proud she is to represent the science teachers at Pennsbury.
The $7,000 is going to go towards materials to bolster the STEM programs at the school.
“That’s easy money spent,” Obert-Thorn joked, listing improvements the money will go toward.
