More state money will go to help improve a short industrial rail line that runs in Falls Township and Morrisville.

Tyburn Railroad LLC will receive $92,000 from the Rail Freight Assistance Program, which is administered by PennDOT, to rehabilitate roughly one mile of track at a truck transfer facility. The work will include replacement of 800 ties and track surfacing to maintain the line.

“Congratulations to Tyburn on winning this highly competitive state grant,” said Democratic State Rep. John Galloway, who serves Falls Township and Morrisville. “Tyburn is an outstanding local company creating long-term family sustaining jobs and establishing the region as a major transportation hub. Their success reflects highly on our community and the workers there.”

The railroad received $420,000 to construct more than 1,000 feet of new track and install a crossover in Falls last year.

Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf’s office said the state doled $32 million recently for 27 rail freight improvement projects. The state, which has the largest number of operating railroads in the country, is working with private businesses to keep rail lines in service.

“These investments underscore our continued commitment in building a world-class infrastructure system that supports the creation of new jobs and our business community,” Wolf said.
