A Middletown auto parts distributor has been approved for a $1,000,000, 15-year term Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority loan at a fixed two percent rate.

Eastern Warehouse Distributors will use the loan to help move forward a 27,000-square-foot expansion underway at the company’s existing facility on Wheeler Way. The project was initially approved last year by the Middletown Board of Supervisors.

The company already has an existing 200,000-square-foot building at 1050 Wheeler Way. The expansion will make that facility that already employs 200 people even larger.

In 1989, Eastern Warehouse Distributors owner Steven Thorne started the company in a strip mall along East Lincoln Highway in Middletown before moving to the former Gold’s Gym property on Flowers Mill Road.

Many drivers will recognize Eastern Warehouse Distributors’ green and yellow delivery cars.

Gov. Tom Wolf’s office said the Eastern Warehouse Distributors loan was among 11 announced in nine counties Monday. His staff said the loans will help keep more than 800 jobs and add more than 125 over three years.

In addition, Rhino Cable Service Inc. in Bensalem was approved for a $775,000, 15-year term loan and a $60,000, five-year term machinery and equipment loan, both at a fixed two percent rate, through the Bucks County Economic Development Corporation.
