Bristol Township will begin the early phases of modernizing three busy intersections within the township thanks in part to PennDOT’s Green Light Go Program.

The grant application, which was submitted last year, was recently accepted and awarded to the township to modernize three intersections to the tune of nearly $670,000. As part of the grant, the township will only be required to match 20 percent of the grant funds.

Assistant Township Manager Scott Swichar explained the project a complete modernization and overhaul, which will increase safety and bring all three intersections up to Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

The third year of the grant offerings will upgrade Mill Creek Road and Haines Road, State Road and Cedar Avenue, and Radcliffe Street and Randall Avenue.

The project is not to be confused with year two of the Green Light Go program which has contributed over $300,000 towards the modernization of two major township cross-ways including Oxford Valley Road, Bath Road, and Lakeland Avenue, and Oxford Valley Road, Levittown Parkway, and New Falls Road. The engineering on those two roadway projects was just completed, according to township officials, and the project is expected to go out to bid shortly, with construction at the intersections beginning in the fall.
