Flames shot from a home in Middletown’s Levittown section Sunday night.

The fire was reported on Canal Road around 8:40 p.m. and required work from numerous local volunteer fire companies to extinguish the blaze.
Neighbors said firefighters faced large flames shooting from the home and worked through smoky conditions.
No injuries were reported, an official on the scene said.

A fire investigator said the damage to the home was significant.
The Middletown Fire Marshals Office was probing the cause of the blaze as of 10 p.m. Sunday.
