
A tree fell across a portion of Route 1 southbound and onto a car along Middletown Friday afternoon.
The tree fell across the southbound lanes and the access road near Neshaminy High School around 2:10 p.m. The highway was closed for about 15 minutes but the access road remained closed as of 4 p.m.

The tree, which was part of three that grew together, crushed the windshield of the man’s car as he was traveling on Route 1 south in the right lane. Fire Marshal Jim McGuire said the man left the scene on his own and was not taken by the hospital.
McGuire said firefighters and fire marshals arrived on the scene and quickly pulled out chainsaws to begin clearing the tree.
