Students from all three Neshaminy middle schools (Carl Sandburg, Poquessing and Maple Point) visited Core Creek Park in Middletown Township Thursday, May 4, for their annual boating trip. The students have been preparing for this trip for weeks by practicing boating and safety skills during physical education classes. The culmination of those efforts is passing the Pennsylvania Boating and Water Safety Awareness Course. Only students who earned the certificate for that course participated in the trip.

The students enjoyed paddling across Lake Luxembourg in a number of kayaks and canoes. The day also included games back on shore and a picnic lunch.
New this year was the acquisition and use of of 15 paddle boards. The students learned how to safely launch the large plastic boards, get on and off, and maintain their balance despite a steady wind and choppy waves. The boards were recently purchased with funds from a Superintendent’s grant and another grant from the Neshaminy Education Foundation.
