The Bucks County Health Improvement Partnership (BCHIP) is leading an effort this week to highlight the importance of advance health care decision making.
The effort is in support of April 16 through 22 as National Healthcare Decisions Week.

Participating organizations throughout the county will provide information and tools for the public to discuss their wishes with family, friends, and their healthcare providers. Tools to help individuals execute written advance directives, like a healthcare power of attorney and living will, in compliance with state standards will also be a point of focus.
The public is invited to attend a health fair from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, April 20, at the Bristol Township Senior Center at 2501 Bath Road, and a program entitled ‘Advance Care Planning – A Gift For Your Family’, also on Thursday, from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. at Aria Jefferson Health, located at 380 North Oxford Valley Road in Langhorne.
While no registration is required for the health fair, those interested in attending the program can register for the event by calling 215-710-2201.

It is the hope of officials that the special week and events will help many more Bucks County residents have thoughtful conversations about their healthcare decisions.
“Having advance directives executed by my parents, both of who passed in the last six years, made their final days more peaceful and meaningful, for themselves and our entire family…knowing that their wishes are being followed,” said Executive Director of BCHIP Eric Stark.
