“Women can succeed in any field, taking on leadership roles in their homes and in business and labor,” said Davis. “How are we celebrating and honoring hard working women if we aren’t taking steps to ensure that no female is shortchanged simply because of their gender.”

Davis’ speech discussed theย issues of equal pay for women, which Davis claimed now equal a man’s average pay a decade ago, and the perils of needing a day to celebrate the many accomplishments of women throughout our country.

Davis said she hopes we areย “moving closer to the day where society no longer needs prompting in order to value women and girls.”
