Fast food chain Roy Rogers is in talks to expand to the Philadelphia market after a years long absence.
“We are talking to several people right now about the Philadelphia, southern New Jersey market,” Jim Plamondon, CEO of the company that owns the iconic brand, told PennLive.com.

While no plans are set in stone to bring a location to Lower Bucks County, the company’s current eateries are often located near major highways in metropolitan areas.
In December, Plamondon told the Philadelphia Business Journal that the region was a very successful market for Roy Rogers before the company contracted in the 1990s under a previous owner.
The brand that is named for a Western cowboy film star used to operate a location at the intersection of Lincoln Highway and Oxford Valley Road in Falls Township. The location was the site of an infamous murder and later closed.

Currently, the nearest Roy Rogers are located at the Woodrow Wilson Travel Plaza along the New Jersey Turnpike outside ofย Trenton and in Flemington, New Jersey.
“Our brand is one we think is ripe for expansion,” Plamondon told the Franchise Times in 2015. “Our goal is to double our chain to 100 over the next five years or so, and that to us would be a great success.”

In speaking with PennLive.com, Plamondon said their challenge right now is finding the right people to open Roy Rogers restaurants.
The brand, according to the CEO’s comment to the website, is a midpoint between McDonald’s and Chipotle, citing high-quality meats that are used.
One of the most popular aspects of the brand is the ‘Fixin’s Bar’ where numerous toppings and condiments are located for customers to mix and match. Another difference from other fast food chain is Roy Rogers’ “holy trio” ofย roast beef, fried chicken and burgers.
