Firefighters who staff the Bristol Fire Company’s (Station 51) three quick response service vehicles have been trained to use the EVZIO auto-injector to deliver Naloxone to opioid overdose patients.
The donation comes from Kalรฉo, the company that manufactures the EVZIO auto-injector to deliver Naloxone, more commonly known as Narcan.

“Fire company personnel have completed on-line training and additional training provided by the fire company medical director Dr. Ryan Overberger from the Einstein Health Care Network,” Fire Chief Herb Slack said.
Bristol Borough police and most ambulance squads already carry narcan in an effort to fight the rising rate of opioid overdose deaths in Lower Bucks County.
The EVZIO auto-injector is easy to use and gives first responders instructions on how to put it into use on victims. The opioid overdose antidote attempts to reduce to life-threatening respiratory depression on overdose victims and aims to return their breathing to normal.
