While the cause of Friday afternoon’s fire in Bristol Township remains under investigation, power problems are being eyed as possibly playing a role.

Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said the vacant home at 290 Magnolia Drive caught fire after flames in shrubs out front spread to the siding and in to the attic.

The home had not had power service since 2012 and was under foreclosure. However, the shrubs that initially caught fire were directly under a utility pole, Dipplolito said.

“Neighbors on both sides and across the street reported their power had gone off and back on two times just prior to the fire being discovered,” the fire marshal told LevittownNow.com.

In addition, Dipplolito said six minutes before the Magnolia Drive fire was dispatched at 4:53 p.m., firefighters were called to the nearby Burger King in Falls Township for a power transformer arcing.
