Tullytown Borough Council President May Kucher has passed away.
Borough officials confirmed the sad news Sunday morning. Mayor David Cutchineal announced the flags of the borough will fly at half-staff following the passing of the council president.
Kucher, who turned 74 just last week, had been on Council for several terms and rarely missed meetings despite her fight with cancer.
Kucher moved to Tullytown after growing up in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood. While in her youth, she was a dancer on Dick Clark’s “American Bandstand.” Locally, she worked as a realtor and lead the borough Democratic party.
The mayor said Kucher’s days dancing didn’t end when she moved to Tullytown. He fondly recalled that she was person from the crowd who was leading everyone else during the Mummer’s strut at the Memorial Day parade.
Several years back, Kucher lost the love her life, her husband Joseph. The couple did not have any children.
“She’s going to be missed,” Cutchineal said. “The people in Tullytown loved May.”
