More than two dozen local hair salons are coming together this weekend to help 150 families this holiday season.
On Sunday, December 11, between noon and 5 p.m., a group of 30 salons will be stationed at Neshaminy High School giving out free haircuts in exchange for monetary donations and new and unwrapped toys. In addition to the haircuts, live entertainment will be provided by DJ Mino, Bristol Township’s Drummers With Attitude, DJ Dah Freak, John Moran Music and face painters.

“The reason I started this is because I was in a situation growing up where it might not have felt like we had a Christmas,” said Antoine Lovelace, the chief organizer of the event and owner of Lace’d Unisex Hair Salon in Middletown. “To me, it’s all about helping others and giving back,”
More than 50 sponsors, including the Langhorne Coffee House and Amatto’s Pizzeria make up the list of sponsors for the event.
Getting 50 sponsors and 30 hair studios together takes a lot of work, but Lovelace says its all worth it in the end.

“Yeah, you might get a free haircut, but it’s really bigger than a haircut,” Lovelace said.
This is the third year Lovelace is hosting the event. It has grown since he introduced it from his own shop in Langhorne to the 30 businesses setting up shop at the high school this Sunday.

“My goal is to be at Lincoln Financial Field with one thousand shops,” he said.
