Bristol Borough is gearing up for its chance at a $500,000 grant through the “Small Business Revolution” contest, where it is one of eight contenders.
Since the announcement that Bristol Borough is on the shortlist for the contest that will be televised, Bill Pezza, the president of Bristol Borough: Raising the Bar, has been hard at work plotting with business owners and volunteers give the town the best possible chance at winning the contest run by small business service company Deluxe.

During Monday night’s work session council meeting, Pezza announced that the Small Business Revolution team will be coming to Bristol to meet with business owners during the second week of January. The crew plans to work record their trip and speak with local business owners.
From this visit, footage will be compiled with the other towns in consideration to create a list of final four towns. At that point, the nation can vote on their favorite community using their email addresses once a day. If it is selected, a miniseries about Bristol Borough’s transformation will be filmed.
If Bristol moves into the final four, voting will take place in February.

According to Pezza, he has so far received 23 letters of support from varying organizations in town. In addition to organizations, volunteers are coming together to make Mill Street look even nicer.
If Bristol is selected, the Small Business Revolution prize money will go towards marketing the town, marketing Mill Street, helping out specific businesses and potentially a small capital project.

“We’re excited about this and we aren’t doing it to waste our time,” Pezza said. “We’re doing it to win.”
Pezza also said that he has been in contact with his counterpart in Wabash, Indiana, which won the contest last time, to better improve the borough’s chances.
People interested in helping can “like” the Small Business Revolution Facebook page and comment with #MyBristolBorough to show support for the town.

Bristol and the seven other towns were selected from about 14,000 nominations.
