Falls Township police are probing a rash of non-fatal and fatal heroin overdoses.

Detective Sgt. Chris Clark said the department has seen 10 heroin overdoses – leading to four deaths – within the last 10 days. The most recent fatal overdose happened Monday.

“We’re waiting for toxicological analysis, but we believe some exotic, potent analgesic (drug used to relieve pain) is responsible,” Clark said.

The township usually sees six to eight overdoses in a month with two fatalities during that period, Lt. Nelson Whitney said, adding that there have been months were no fatal overdoses were recorded.

Clark said police are hoping for awareness but encourage anyone with information to call Detective John Vella at vellapd@fallstwp.com or 215-302-3307.

Last month, Bristol Township authorities investigated four overdoses, including one fatal, during a one-day period.
