An adult male died Monday evening when he jumped from a school building in Levittown, according to police.

The man, who was in his 30s, was not identified publicly by police Tuesday morning, but they confirmed he plunged from the chimney of the Carl Sandburg Middle School and Albert Schweitzer Elementary School complex on Harmony Road in Middletown’s Levittown section Monday evening.

The man’s death was likely a suicide but detectives are following up on a few more leads, Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla told LevittownNow.com.

The deceased man was not affiliated with the Neshaminy School District but somehow gained access to the roof. Neighbors said it isn’t uncommon to see students gain access to the roof of the schools after hours.

Medics were called to the schools around 7:20 p.m. Monday evening for a fall victim. About 20 minutes later, the Penndel Fire Company’s ladder truck was dispatched to the school along with the coroner’s office.

Detectives and firefighters focused their attention on the pavement in a gated maintenance area near a load dock and chimney.
