The Bucks County West Nile Virus Prevention Program will be spraying mosquito adulticide in Bristol Township and Middletown next week.
The ultra-low volume spray of Duet Dual-Action Adulticide at a rate of 0.75 ounces per acre will take place on Tanglewood Drive in Middletown. In addition, all of Bristol Township’s Croydon section and a portion of the West Bristol section will be sprayed in an effort to control the adult mosquito populations, according to county officials.

The spray will take place starting at dusk, county officials said. A weather date is Thursday, September 1.
“The product is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations. The application material has a very low toxicity profile to mammals and will have negligible impact to non-target insects and the environment,” according to a statement provided to LevittownNow.com by the county.
So far this year, nearly 50 mosquitoes in Bucks County have tested positive for West Nile Virus. No locally transmitted cases of the Zika Virus have been reported.
