Fairless Hills Woman Competing For Miss Pennsylvania 2016 Title

A young woman from Fairless Hills will compete to become Miss Pennsylvania 2016.

Sarah Jayne Hughes, 19, was recently crowned Miss Neshaminy Valley and will compete for the title of Miss Pennsylvania 2016 in June at an event in Pittsburgh.

Last year, Hughes, who had never took part in a pageant before, was crowned Miss Bucks County and also competed for the Miss Pennsylvania title. 

“Up until last year I never thought pageants were for me, but after competing in the Miss America Organization I realized I had no idea what I had been missing” Hughes said. “I honestly believe competing has allowed me to branch out and grow as a person in ways that never would have been possible without the Miss America Organization.”

“Hughes’ platform is ABCs for ASDs promoting after school care for children within the Autism Spectrum Disorder. Hughes is a huge supporter of the Autism Cares Foundation and all they have to offer the kids and their families. Her talent is actually a lyrical dance to “The Autism Song” in honor of her niece Hailey who is autistic,” according to a press release. 

Hughes is one of four children belonging to Elizabeth and Terrence Hughes Sr. She is studying early childhood and special education at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre and will be attending Temple University in Philadelphia in the fall.

If Hughes wins the Miss Pennsylvania title, she will compete against 51 other young women vying for the title of Miss America 2017 in Atlantic City.
