For Council President Craig Bowen, the recently approved PennWorks grant by the county commissioners is like “having Christmas in the spring for Bristol Township”.
While the approval of the grant by the county was more of a formality, according to Bucks County Redevelopment Authority Executive Director Bob White, the grant’s approval was the next step in connecting at least one parcel of land along Route 13 between Beaver Dam Road and Green Lane, to the Bristol Borough sewer lines.

“It will help bring more business into our township which helps bring dollars to the schools via real estates taxes plus all the permit fees,” said Bowen. “The township is limited in revenue sources compared to Falls Township that has the dump or [to] Bensalem that has the casino. Bristol Township’s only revenue source is from residents and business.”
The $400,000 grant for the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development, along with $100,000 for Bucks RDA will go towards engineering and constructions costs. The 30 acre parcel of land, which is now owned by the Bucks RDA, will then be sold to a manufacturing company, expected to bring 250 new jobs to the area. That company’s name has not yet been released
“They’re basically just waiting on us,”White told the MidWeek Wire. “There are three or four other properties nearby. It’s really a perfect location, close to the Turnpike and 95.”

It is RDA and Bristol Township officials hopes that the project will lead to many more like it happening around the under-construction Route 13 corridor.
