Falls Township will soon be adding lacrosse programs to help diversify it’s local athletics.
Parks and Recreation Director Brian Andrews advocated for the program, which will be run by USA Sport Group.

The program, which will help create a foundation of lacrosse in children aged 5-12, will help break up athletic experiences that are commonly associated with children of that age, opening their horizons to more than just baseball, basketball and soccer.
“I think it’s a great idea,” said Vice Chairman Jeffry Dence.
The program, which will lump children of the same age group together, will be held on Saturday mornings at Quaker Penn Park for six weeks beginningย Saturday Aprilย 9 and running till Saturday May 21, with no programming on May 7. The program will cost $105 for residents and $110 for non-residents. Classes forย 5-6 year olds will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., 7-8 year olds from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.,ย 9-10 year olds from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 pm, andย 11-12 year olds from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.

“This is something that kids, even if they don’t have prior experience with it, can pick it up,” said Andrews.
A multi-sport day camp run by USA Sport Group will also be added to supplement the township’s summer camp program which ends August 5. That program will begin August 8 and run through August 19 and allow children aged 5-11 full time or part time care from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. A one hour class from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. will also be held for children aged 3 to 5.

Falls Township, which will only host the program at it’s parks, will receive a 10 percent kick-back from program profits, according to Andrews.
