The National Weather Service is forecasting an extended period of frigid winter conditions this week. Given that prediction, the Bucks County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) joins the County Health Department to issue a “Code Blue” declaration. The next Code Blue will cover the period of 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12 through 7 a.m. on Thursday, January 14.

The EMA again has notified the January on-call churches, Woodside Presbyterian Church in Yardley, Trinity Buckingham Episcopal Church and Quakertown Masonic Lodge to plan to activate their emergency shelters. The on-call church volunteers will coordinate transportation, temporary shelter, food and other necessities.

In addition, County Emergency Management Director Scott Forster and Health Director Dr. David Damsker have notified local public safety officials of the Code Blue declaration. They advise all residents to be aware of another period of severe weather conditions. County residents are urged to check on their elderly neighbors during this period of frigid weather. Caution also should be taken with pets during extremely cold temperatures.
