Former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Brandon Hughes is dedicated to combining excellent strength and conditioning exercises to empower area locals. The Illinois native, who relocated to Fairless Hills with his wife after his three and a half year stint with the city’s professional football team, has recently celebrated two months of healthy business inside Fuel House.

Fuel House, a fitness mecca at Park Place Center on Bristol-Oxford Valley Road in Levittown, is Hughes’ answer to improving physique and athleticism of locals through practical movements designed to educate and strengthen sans injuring.
โAt some gyms youโll lift 200 pounds over your head, we donโt do that here,” Hughes said while writing the daily workout on the wall’s dry erase board. “We make our workouts functional for our athlete so that they are strong in every aspect of their daily lives. Weโve made sport specific training (strength and conditioning) into a practical program for the everyday gym person and that is why we are different.โ

Hughes, who details the day’s regimen to his members before the start of every workout, is focused on movements where members run, jump, pull, and lift, combining what athletes normally face as two different segments, strength and conditioning, into one hour.
“Our training regimens are detailed and planned well in advance. This is important because we are introducing movements and drills that most athletes have practiced for years,” he said. “We teach these same skills to individuals at various levels of physical abilities.โ

Hughes has garnered close to 50 members in just two months, and while hosting 5 to 7 classes per day, has been able to keep class sizes small, allowing him to know the names, backgrounds and medical issues of his members. Inside the double doors to Fuel House, Hughes has created a family atmosphere that not only keeps members accountable for their workout, but pushes everyone to do their absolute best.
โPeople often lack structure and proper technique during their workouts. We provide coaching, structure, and a team atmosphere,” Hughes said.

Hughes, who has a son just a few weeks old, is also passionate about helping new mothers ‘get their body back’. โI admire my wife for carrying our son and giving birth. Sheโs been strong throughout the whole process. Our goal is to create a safe space where women in similar positions can take classes that ease them back into regular fitness workouts and get them to a physical state in which they feel good about their post pregnancy bodies.” Hughes said he’ll be targeting his 12 p.m. daily class to help do just that.
“If you’re a new mom and want to get back into shape in a family environment with a tight knit group of people that are going to encourage you, then this is for you. If you have a baby in a stroller and you’d like to bring them and you need to stop the workout to tend to your child, then by all means,” he noted.

His regular membership will be discounted to $85 a month for three months only. The membership allows you to workout as many times as you’d like during the month, even multiple times a day if you choose.
Hughes personal training packages, which are sold in 30 minute workouts of three, will be discounted to $115. He noted that with every package purchased, you’ll receive a free extra session. “When I say 30 minutes, I’m gonna kick your a** for 30 minutes,” Hughes said.
