The spokesperson for the Pennsbury Education Association (PEA) unsuccessfully asked the school board to bring back a committee made up of board members and teachers.

Lucy Walter came before the Pennsbury School Board Thursday night to request a committee made up to not more than seven teachers and four board members is formed to discuss issues that impacts PEA members. The Professional Staff Committee proposed by Walter would meet regularly to trade communications between the school board and teachers.

“We believe it is time to get teachers involved in the educational process in Pennsbury,” Walter said.

Board President Gary Sanderson said the district is currently not interested in forming a Professional Staff Committee. He noted the district currently offers “different avenues,” including regular meetings with department heads and other administrators, that are already in place.

A similar committee operated roughly 20 years ago.
