Voter Turnout Low Around Levittown Area

Poll workers across the Levittown area said they had plenty of free time to burn Tuesday afternoon as voters trickled into polling places.

Bristol Borough

The polling places in Bristol Borough reported a steady turnout throughout Tuesday.

From 7 a.m. until the polls closing at 8 p.m., a mix of voters, candidates and volunteers mingled outside the polling places after casting their ballots.

Longtime Bucks County Rescue Squad medic and current board member Harry Crohe stood outside the borough high school to talk to voters about a ballot question that, if approved, would let the rescue squad receive more tax money to fund their organization. He said everyone he encountered on election day was respectful, even if they disagreed with his position.

Bristol Township

The judge of elections across Bristol Township reported an average of 19% voter turnout at the Emerson Elementary and Bristol Township administration building.

Volunteers handing out political leaflets had to turn several people looking to pay bills and file paperwork at the township building. The township was closed due to the location being used a polling place.

“I’ve had some free time here today,” a man handing out leaflets said.

No errors or issues were reported.

Falls

The township reported an average 23.5% voter turnout between Manor and Valley elementary schools by 6:30 p.m.

“Oh, the primary’s are a disaster,” said Chris Spillane.

“Oh yes, the numbers are certainly more than expected,” replied his wife Mary.

Regarding any unexpected voting issues, there were none to report in the evening hours.

“There were no problems here with voting identification, that could go into effect next year or the year after, and it’s something on everybody’s mind,” said Harriet Osborn, a voting volunteer for more than a decade at Manor elementary school outside of the Thornridge section of Levittown. “This is volunteer and I just do it for my country.”

Langhorne

Voter turnout in Langhorne was reported as a bit heavier than expected, according to a Republican who said he was there handing out leaflets in the afternoon.

Middletown

Election officials reported about 27% voter turnout at the Knights of Columbus polling location in Levittown. The polling location covers both apartments and Levittown Jubilee’s inside Quincy Hollow and Cobalt Ridge.

Middletown Township Supervisor Drew Kreiling, a Republican running for reelection, was present outside the polling place greeting those who came to vote after work.

Evelyn Throne stood with supervisors candidate Amy Strouse, a Democrat, to talk to voters outside Maple Point Middle School. Throne said turnout was steady and more appeared to be arriving when they got off work.

“It’s so slow I swear I had to wake up a worker,” one voter inside Samuel Everitt Elementary School in Middletown’s Levittown section joked.

The Everitt polling sites, according to workers, had about a quarter of those register signed in as of 5 p.m.

Penndel

Council President Kali Sodano was surprised at how many local residents came out to vote at the borough hall. “I was voter 486 right around 7 p.m.,” she said. “The average is right around 300 I think.”

For the borough of roughly 1400 registered voters, about 35.5% came out to vote in the general election.

Tullytown

Candidates for council spent much of day talking to voters heading in and out of the Borough Hall to vote.
