According to the press release, “the truck will be used by the Bucks County Opportunity Council, the local non-profit that oversees the food and nutrition programs for low-income families in Bucks County, to safely haul frozen and refrigerated meat and produce year-round.”

โ€œWe are so happy to be able to provide healthy meat products for families in Bucks County. Our mission is not only to feed families, but ensure they are eating healthy, nutritious food too,โ€œ Heather Foor, food program manager at the Opportunity Council, said. โ€œOver 40 food distribution sites in the county now have access to high-quality meats, like deli meat, bacon, childrenโ€™s meals, chicken breast, hot dogs and sausages year-round.”

The nonprofit will also have access to fresh produce through the Hope of the Harvest Charitable Garden and Rolling Harvest Food Rescue, both of which utilize volunteers to glean fresh produce that is donated by local farms and Delaware Valley University. The donated food is then distributed to the Bucks County food pantry network.
