Whether it was removing non-native plants or cleaning trash from Levittown’s green spaces, Dale Frazier was always working to make the community a little bit nicer.

Frazier, who passed away from a battle with cancer Sunday morning at the age of 58, help found the Greenbelt Overhaul Alliance of Levittown (GOAL) in 2009 after spending time cleaning up his Bristol Township neighborhood.

Throughout the years, Frazier and GOAL worked to clear the greenbelts, roadsides, waterways and remove non-native plants that cause problems in our area. The spots they cleaned ended up reaching all the way up to Yardley and Warrington.

“Dale’s commitment to his community is unmatched and exemplifies the meaning of a true community steward. He is an inspiration to us all.” Shannon Reiter, president of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, said after Fraizer won an award from the group.

GOAL member Ed Armstrong, who is also a Tullytown Borough Council member, worked with Frazier since he first proposed an idea to clean up Levittown’s greenbelts in April 2009.

“He presented before council and I talked to him after,” Armstrong recalled. “I went to the clean up in May and I was hooked after that.”

Even up until he passed away, Frazier was involved in working to better the community.

“Up to the very last f***ing day,” Armstrong said with a chuckle.

“I talked to him the Saturday night before he died and he was at the [Bristol Township] senior center at the rain garden,” he recalled. “That was Dale.”

Armstrong said Frazier was even sketching plans for a patient patio on the green roof at the cancer treatment center in the weeks leading up to his death.

Frazier, an Airforce veteran, also volunteered with his family at the Masonic Temple in Fairless Hills’ annual Thanksgiving dinners for the needy. Frazier, his wife, daughter and eventually one of his grandsons were serving meals for those in the community every single Thanksgiving day. Armstrong said 2014 marked the first year there were three generations of Fraizers volunteering at the temple.

One thing is certain – Frazier’s legacy in the community will not be forgotten any time soon.

A Dale Frazier Clean Up Day is currently being planned by Armstrong and the members of GOAL, who pledge to continue to group’s work in the area.

“Dale Frazier also accomplished something that many will never do in a lifetime. He left a legacy–now and hopefully for many generations to come. We can look at the Levittown greenbelts and see patches of woods with native trees and wildflowers. When people pass, sometimes a tree is planted in their memory. In his passing Dale left us with a little piece of nature to remember him,” Bristol Township Environmental Council member Juan Garces wrote in a letter.

Fraizer is survived by his wife Kathy; daughter, Danielle Wiley and husband Sean; daughter Jackie Frazier; and daughter Caitlyn Frazier; brother, Robert Frazier and wife Vicki.  Grandchildren include Ryan and Adam Wiley; and Noah Doane.

A service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd, Newtown. Those who attend are asked not to bring flowers and to wear cheerful clothing.
