The Penndel Borough Police Department is one of just 25 law enforcement agencies in the entire country that is part of a project from theย National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Chief Josephย Sciscio announced this week that the borough department has met the requirements needed to become part of the Missing Kids Readiness Project. The chief traveled to Alexandria, Virginia earlier this year to get more training to be part of the project.

The training that Sciscio took part in will allow the department to respond more quickly and comprehensively to any incidents where a child’s life may be at stake.

“By demonstrating remarkable leadership and making this commitment of training and preparedness, the Penndel Borough Police Department is communicating to its citizens and families that protecting the lives and safety of their children is a top priority,” according to statement from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Officials noted the Penndel is one of only 25 law enforcement agencies in the entire country to be part of the project but is one of only three in Pennsylvania.
