Vehicles, senior citizens and structures near the Bucks County-owned Oxford Valley Golf Course are a bit safer due to a recent upgrade.
Bucks County officials, including the Commissioners, and local officials officially cut the ribbon for a $31,000, 50-foot-tall net that will stop golf balls from making their way toward the Falls Township Senior Center.

For year, residents nearby the golf course have found golf balls and damage from stray balls on their property. The Falls Township Senior Center building has reported damage, including some to vehicles that were sitting in its parking lot that sits along the edge of the course. From time to time, a broken windshield on a car was not uncommon.

The netting, which is held up by several large poles and steel cable, was installed recently after years of complaints about errant golf balls.
A Falls Township Senior Center visitor jokingly yelled “fore!” as he walked through the parking lot Thursday afternoon.

While the net will stop golf balls that come toward the senior center, many homes on Trenton Road that back up to the golf course still have no protection.
