Prospective pet owners will have the chance to adopt an animal at no cost Saturday, Aug. 29, as the Women’s Animal Center hosts the 12th annual NBCUniversal “Clear the Shelters” pet adoption event.

The program is designed to connect stray and surrendered animals with permanent homes.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the shelter at 3839 Richlieu Road in Bensalem Township.
Inspire Federal Credit Union is serving as the event sponsor. Through the credit union’s sponsorship, adoption fees will be fully waived for approved applicants seeking to adopt dogs, cats, or small animals.

Along with waived fees, attendees can expect complimentary refreshments, giveaways for individuals who adopt, and family-friendly activities for children.

Animals available for adoption from Women’s Animal Center, which is recognized as America’s first animal shelter, undergo spaying or neutering, receive preventative and lifesaving vaccinations, and are microchipped for permanent identification. Additionally, adopters will receive a 10 percent discount toward their pet’s first annual physical examination at the facility’s veterinary hospital.
