Bristol Township Fire Inspector Cody Stoner had one final apartment to check Monday, and thankfully he did.

The fire inspector, who was conducting annual apartment inspections, and a maintenance employee working for the Edgely Estates apartment complex, discovered an ailing elderly woman who needed help inside the apartment that was about to undergo an inspection.

The two men knocked on her door with no answer. After getting concerned, the maintenance man opened the door and disconnected a chain lock that closed the door.

“Upon entering the apartment, the occupant was found unconscious on the floor. Fire Inspector Stoner, who is also an EMT, summoned EMS via radio and began treating the occupant while awaiting paramedics,” Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito told LevittownNow.com.

The woman was semi-conscious and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Dippolito said the hot temperatures and excessive heat in the apartment may have caused the woman’s medical emergency.

Stoner was hired by the township in 2014.
